Ambassadors in the Embassy

The following is what the Holy Spirit put on my heart this morning and revealed to me; I posted it on Facebook but I thought you might not see it. I hope you don't mind but I really wanted to share it with you:

What do you think of when someone says the word church? We may think of church as a gathering of people, or perhaps we think of church as a building where we go on a Sunday or Wednesday, or maybe we think of church as religion.

To some degree each one of these definitions is correct in certain ways. That's actually quite sad, and if I may be so bold, allow me tell you why this is so.

The function of the Body of Christ is for each member to be an Ambassador for Christ, (2Corinthians 5:20) or as it says in Acts 1:8 to be witnesses to Christ, which would make the buildings that we go to to be equipped for the work of ambassadorship Heavens Embassy. Just as we have a countries embassy existing in foreign countries, these buildings we call church should actually be the Embassy of Heaven here on earth!! Representing NOT our ideology, doctrines or beliefs but the TRUTH of the Almighty God, the Sovereign Creator of all heaven and all earth.

If we understood that in all its fullness, how would that change our behaviors and our interaction with the community around us?

A little food for thought from Turn the Tide Ministry as we head into our weekend.  Share, comment, contact us for prayer, with questions or for more information about being an Ambassador for Christ!

WAKING CHRIST'S CHURCH TO CHRIST'S SALVATION AND PURPOSE

HOW DOES A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING BEGIN?

It begins with sowing into Gods kingdom, Gods way.  It begins with letting go of self:
Self righteousness
Self sufficiency
Self reputation
Self pride
Self promotion
and all the like, instead, putting the Will of the Father above all other considerations.

It isn’t about methodology, programs, following steps, saying of certain prayers in certain ways at certain times within certain contexts.

It is a HEART ATTITUDE of total submission and a boldness to dare to be broken and needy before the Father no matter who may be in witness along with a desperate, almost insane craving to be heard and filled by Holy Spirit.

David Thomas, in an address to the 2015 New Room Conference, called it TRAVAILING PRAYER.
“And ever since I looked into the eyes of those people who once saw what we so passionately want to see, I’ve come to believe that the true seedbed of awakening is the plowed-up hearts of men and women willing to receive the gift of travail.
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” (Psalm 126:5)”

It is a groaning of Holy Spirit working in and through us, with NONE OF US IMPEDING, to do the will of God Almighty and none other.

It is a pleading with God that withholds nothing, seeks nothing of one’s own, and abandons self to the greater glory of the Lord.

It is prayer such as Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

IT IS THE PRAYER OF ONE WHO HAS NOTHING TO LOSE AND ONLY SOMETHING GLORIOUS TO GAIN!

It is prayer that comes not from our thoughts, our needs, our wants that results only in lips forming words of little or no consequence, but prayer that comes from deep, deeper still from within the heart of hearts where Holy Spirit dwells in us and there may not always be words of our language to express the depth of the desire, need and urgency.

It is prayer that is beholden to no clock, no building made with human hands, no fleshly agenda of any kind save that of bringing flesh and spirit together in the harmony we call Salvation and any other desire of our Lord He chooses as a response to such abandoned prayer.

In his treatise, David Thomas reveals “The goodness and burden of awakening is not for careerists. Awakening is sown by the company of the misunderstood, the downwardly mobile, the unthanked, the obscure, and criticized and burdened. Awakening is messy and costly to people who love it and long for it. Reputation is the first thing to go in this kind of praying and leading. Jesus taught that our seeds have to die before anything will grow (John 12:24).”

Concern for what people may think of you, how your reputation or character may be perceived by others who witness this abandonment to the sovereign will of the Heavenly Father who will share the glory with no flesh whatsoever will stop any real, true or powerful move of the Father from ever occurring.  At best you may feel an emotional jitter from such strenuous activity but no supernatural occurrence that eternally changes the hearts of self or others.

Weeping may last for the night but joy comes in the morning – and a true giving away of self over to the power of praying by the Holy Spirit will indeed result in a joyful expression of thankfulness at some point.

But first comes the weeping, the setting aside of self, the loss of “my, mine, me” to result in the gain of FRUIT, BORNE TO THE FATHERS GLORY FROM WHICH YOU RECEIVE GREAT BLESSINGS!

Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father, and the prayer warrior who is watching and praying fervently without regard of any kind for any reward will discover the Father’s rewards are mighty and perfect without you ever having known or understood how desperately you needed them!

This Thanksgiving our prayer for you is that you experience the peace and joy of a heart abandoned to Gods perfect ways, that you also enjoy the blessings in full of your FREEDOM IN CHRIST!

The Cost of Grace; The Freedom of Repentance

Oh how marvelous the grace of God the Father, the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth!  How awesome the power of the Holy spirit that transforms our lives when we choose to believe His word and obey it's commands!

How deep and wide is Gods mercy towards us when we repent of sin and ask forgiveness; how freely He gives the forgiveness and cleanses us of all unrighteousness by the blood of Christ the Savior!

How comforting that He causes the devil and all evil to flee from us when first we submit to Him and resist the lies and deceits directed toward us!

How free is the Grace He bestows upon us - BUT CHEAP?  Never cheap my friends!

Mistakenly making it appear that grace and holiness is so easy to obtain and repentance and submission optional rather than mandatory only confirms that we have lost sight of the cost, what it cost GOD to make that grace and mercy so freely available to us!

It cost the putting aside of divinity to come to this earth as a human baby to experience in fleshly form all that His creation experiences, so we might better understand His empathy for us.

It cost Him giving up His ETERNAL life to take on fleshly DEATH in order to pay the price required to redeem us from our sin.

How great is grace, how freely given.  How valuable it is, ETERNALLY valuable.  How precious a gift, freely given and freely received.

Unlike every earthly gift which is temporary only, this gift is eternal life, eternal peace, eternal salvation, eternal mercy from our ETERNAL GOD!

WORSHIP HIS HOLY NAME!  PRAISE THE LORD FOR HE IS GREAT AND WORTHY OF ALL PRAISE!

When not engaged directly in ministry related activities, I function in the business world as a business owner. In that capacity I am exposed to many stories of entrepreneurs who have experienced quick and impressive success - particularly financially. Every once in a while, I find myself dealing with a twinge of what I can only call jealousy.

I hesitate to call it that, because I'm not really jealous, certainly not enough to even consider changing my focus to increase my own business activity in order to generate greater wealth.  I have no interest in changing my focus.  But a twinge usually assails me, a sense of what might be possible financially if I did change my focus.  Instead of focusing the bulk of my time, talent and efforts to being the best Christian witness for Christ that I can be.

One thing I remind myself of, is that I"m not in my 20's anymore, and my need for a higher income just isn't there.  My needs are met, I have a home, comfortable furnishings, my bills are paid on time and there's some left over for being generous toward the need of others I come in contact with.

Then again this morning I read an account of another young entrepreneur who went from huge student debt to multi-millionaire in less than a year.  "Clever soul" was my first thought, and what a pleasant surprise for me that instead of the usual twinge of jealousy, I thought "I wonder if they know Jesus as their Lord and Savior?"

Two thoughts piggy-backed that thought, and a third leaped into action as well.

  1. Proof I'm still growing in Christian maturity, jealousy replaced by joy
  2. How wonderful to be content with what God has blessed me with
  3.  I should pray the gospel is preached to that person, because that's what they need most if they don't already know Him.  (Which is in itself proof of Christian maturity, so I'm thankful for that, too!)
The Apostle Paul tells us that godliness with contentment is great gain.  1Timothy 6:6

I'm really seeing the full extent of truth in that statement.  What a sense of peace is mine when I am content with what I have and not coveting what someone else has.  What joy to experience maturity in Christ in action in my life; it inspires me to continue to grow, to renew my mind to the word of God and to yield myself to the work of the Holy Spirit in me.  What a wonderful gain to my own life and heart and the people around me, since they are affected by my actions, words and heart attitudes.

Wherever you may be in your walk with Christ; just beginning, experiencing a period of great growth or struggling to move forward allow me to encourage you to KEEP GOING!

There is so much to gain and nothing worth keeping to lose when you yield, obey and grow in the grace of God.
