TEMPORARY

We just recently made a change, moving us from a rather warm climate to a decidedly cold one.  When we arrived, it was a beautiful sunshining day, and we hardly even needed our sweaters, never mind coats!

And then the next day dawned, gorgeous sunrise which led immediately into cloudy skies heavy with a promise of snow.  About midday it began to fall.  Ever so softly at first, one stunningly individual flake after another until there was about two inches of the fluffy, excellent snowman making kind covering everything as far as the view allowed us to see.  With it came a cold that insisted on coats and hats and gloves and scarves and any other warm wrapping item within reach!  But I was not concerned or even the slightest bothered by it all – because in my heart I realized this was a TEMPORARY situation.

We were here, we would be here a while, and it would probably be cold the entire time.  But I knew it was only for a certain amount of time.  It wasn’t that big a deal anymore.  I thought, anything can be dealt with when you know it’s just for a short or specified length of time.
And then it hit me.  That’s the how and the why we can deal with the things of this life without getting ANXIOUS.  We can remain calm.  We can trust God.  We can endure.  We can be at peace. When we remember that all of this life on the earth is TEMPORARY, it makes it so much easier to heed the Apostle Paul’s words:  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”  Philippians 4:6

No worries, this stuff is temporary.  And from what I hear (read), Heaven is AWESOME!

Whatever you do, MAKE IT COUNT FOR CHRIST!  Happy New Year from Turn the Tide!
